Biography
Dr. Prakash Murgeppa Bhuyar is an Indian living and working in Thailand. He blends the best of both cultures into his life. He is currently a Director, Assistant Dean, Academician, and Researcher at Maejo University, Thailand.
Dr. Prakash received a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, Malaysia. He is currently a Lecturer in Organic Agriculture Management at International College (MJU-IC) and Director of the International Industry and Agriculture Innovation Research Center (IIAR) at Maejo University, Chiang Mai, Thailand. He was appointed Assistant Dean at International College, Maejo University, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
He has expertise in Algae Biofuels, Bioprocess Engineering, Agriculture Biotechnology, Food Microbiology, Renewable Energy, and Wastewater management. His research focuses on applying biotechnology in biological sciences and valorizing waste products to value-added next-generation biofuels under an International Industry and Agriculture Innovation Research Center.
Earlier, Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. Tokyo, JAPAN, cosponsored by Mitsui Chemicals, Singapore, awarded him a winning prize. For his Ph.D. at Universiti Malaysia Pahang, he was awarded a Doctoral Research Scholarship Scheme. Recently, in 2023, he received a prestigious runner-up award for Falling Walls Lab, Thailand.
Dr. Prakash’s Ph.D. research project, guided by Professor Natanamurugaraj Govindan, entitled the phytodegradation of Polyethylene, accelerates the degradation rate of plastic waste and converts it into environmentally friendly aspects with photosynthetic microalgae. He has also worked on different funded projects by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Malaysia. His projects have also received Gold medals in international exhibitions.
In his previous research career, he worked as a research assistant at ICAR Institute National Research Center on Meat, Hyderabad, India, focusing his research on animal species and sex determination through molecular techniques.
In his early research career, he produced 100 high-quality research articles. He believes “I have been doing qualitative research in biotechnology and renewable energy research,” reflected by the citations of his research articles, which have been cited 2880 times to date (h-index of 30). Dr. Prakash can consistently publish in reputed international journals, collaborate with world-renowned scientists, and receive funding from international sources is a testament to his global talent.
